Terengganu State Plans Construction Of Dual-Carriageway From Kemaman To Besut

BESUT, August 3 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu state government will build a network of dual-carriageway linking Kemaman to Besut to ease the traffic congestion in the state especially during festive seasons, said Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said.

According to him, the road construction project had already been carried out in stages beginning early last year.

He said the first part started from Jerteh to Bukit Yong on the border with Kelantan, Sungai Tong-Bukit Gemuruh stretch in Kuala Trengganu, Kuala Terengganu-Ajil-Marang portion and Kemasek to Kerteh in Kemaman.

"If the economy permits the construction of the dual-lane roads at the locations will be continued in stages," he told reporters after officiating a RM3 million food court in Jerteh town Tuesday.

In his speech, Ahmad reminded all heads of departments in the state to make wise decisions when implementing any development project to satisfy everyone so that they would not complain after the projects were completed.

On the unfinished RM70-million Jerteh Souq project in Jerteh, he said it would be continued by a new contractor appointed two months ago.
