MAS senior general manager (commercial strategy) Dr Amin Khan said there would be 16 additional flights to Kota Baru, three to Kuala Terengganu, two to Alor Setar and one to Penang in West Malaysia.
There would also be 12 extra flights to Kota Kinabalu, 10 to Kuching, three to Tawau, three to Miri, two to Bintulu and one to Sibu in East Malaysia, he added.
Two additional flights would be put on the Kuching-Johor Baru route, he said.
Dr Amin said customers were encouraged to purchase their tickets early as demand for the seats was very high because Hari Raya coincided with the school holidays. Hari Raya is likely to fall on Sept 10 and 11 while the school holidays are from Sept 4 to 12.
“We will monitor the demand and will offer more extra flights, if necessary, to facilitate travel during this special holiday season,” he said.
Tickets for the 55 extra flights are available at www.malaysiaairlines.com and www.flymas.mobi.-Bernama
