Kemaman is one of district in Terengganu, Malaysia. It is situated on the coast of the South China Sea and is a city with end-to-south of Terengganu Darul Iman state.
Kemaman district is bordered by Dungun to the north and the state of Pahang to the south.
With an area of about 8,000 square miles (254,000 hectares), Kemaman district become the third after Hulu Terengganu and Dungun. It is also bordering the South China Sea.
Census population until the 1940s showed that this region is the third in population after the Besut and Kuala Terengganu. However, this census has been changed after the discovery of petroleum around the 1970s that put this region in second place after the Kuala Terengganu.
The district is divided into 11 district administrative center and focus on the economy of the city. Terrain of this area can be divided into three main areas:
1. The coastal areas.
2. Rural areas
3. Foothills (located just a few kilometers from the coast)
Kemaman is administered by its local council, the MPK( Majlis Perbandaran Kemaman) and Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek is the Member of Parliament for Kemaman. He is also the Malaysia Youth and Sports Minister.
The town in Kemaman is called Chukai, which is one of the administrative and economic centre.
